To slay and to avenge

Open Character: Thor Odinson | God of Thunder | Alignment: Avengers Initiative | 1000+ years old
FC: Chris Hemsworth
Thor Odinson is an Asgardian warrior-prince and the God of Thunder. He was raised in Asgard by Odin and was granted all the benefits that came with being the son of the king. He was raised among a culture of warriors in Asgard and as such he placed high value on strength, courage and loyalty, as well as skill in battle. He was always eager to prove himself, sometimes acting foolishly thanks to this desire. Though he was physically strong, he lacked the wisdom and knowledge that would tell him when to use said strength. His best friend during his childhood was his brother Loki. Thor did not know Loki was adopted and thought his brother his rival for the throne of Asgard. In spite of that, the two remained close.
Thor ascended to the throne but his journey was not yet over. The night of his coronation, Loki let frost giants slip into Asgard to ruin the celebration. Thor responded angrily. Unaware that the invasion was Loki’s idea of a joke, he proclaimed war on the Frost Giants and was encouraged by Loki to end the truce their father had sought out many years before. Thor led an attack on the Frost Giants that almost resulted in himself and several others being killed. Following this, he was cast out by Odin until such a time as he became fit to rule and be classed as a warrior of Asgard. On Earth, Thor met the young scientist Jane Foster who took him in and slowly taught him what it meant to be mentally strong as well as physically strong. He regained his powers and his station among the Asgardians. He eventually found out his brother Loki had set him up and the two became rivals.
Following Loki’s unsuccessful attempt to rule the Earth, Thor took him back to Asgard and sentenced him to imprisonment. He forced Loki to eternally watch the lives and events of people on Earth, hoping it would allow his brother to learn compassion. It failed and Loki escaped. Thor knew that his brother had to have had outside help in order to flee his Asgardian prison and set out on a mission to find the guilty party. He neglected to tell his allies on Earth about Loki’s escape, reasoning that he could recapture Loki before he did any harm. He had always hoped to work alongside his brother, not against him. He did not want to spark another possible war with earth. Loki’s escape caused Thor to be a little less trusting of his companions and friends in Asgard. He did not know for sure if any of them might have helped Loki escape. Soon after Loki’s escape, Thor learned that there was a new war on earth, this time between humans and the creatures of the night. Thinking Loki might have had something to do with it, he returned to Earth to offer his help.
